From the Barre to the Boulevard: Robert Edition

It's no surprise the female barretenders at Local Barre know how to bring it. If you haven't been following along, or had the pleasure of taking one of his classes, then you may not know Robert! He's the fella of the bunch and today he's serving up some serious swag.

With fall on the way, it only seemed right to have him don pieces that are classically male with a modern touch. I kept in mind Robert is a recent grad with a limited budget and created his look from places he can frequent in the future. A designer shirt for half the price came from TJ Maxx and is perfect for now and later. Worn with colored denim {trend alert for the gents for fall!} from Gap, the button down has a subtle print that makes it eye-catching to wear on its own but also creates interest when layered under a sweater for cooler temperatures. Back to that colored denim tid bit, it may seem like a little out of most guys comfort zone, but try going for a casual color like olive or not-so-bright cranberry. When pairing them, just treat them like they are regular blue jeans and you will be surprised at how easy it is to style them.

The finishing touches here are items that can be worn on repeat. Cool textured sneakers that help Robert give his cross trainers a welcomed break and a luxe-looking knit sweater that can be thrown over almost anything, both came from Banana Republic. {The sweater at 40% off!} This footwear and zip-cardigan combo is a simple way for guy to be on point in the style department while not looking like he took things too seriously. The soft briefcase is the final piece that brings everything together another designer score for half the price from TJ Maxx. Hand-held or carried by the shoulder strap this neutral colored necessity isn't too stuffy and channels just the right amount of ease a guy like Robert needs.

Tiffany describes herself as being style obsessed, having an affinity for all things shiny and out her budget, and living for a good dance off and Beyoncé. She is a fashion stylist based in Hoboken, NJ catering to personal wardrobe and business clients throughout the tri-state area. You can find out more about her and her styling company at

Tell us about any exciting activities you do outside of Barre and Wheel?
Well, right now I’m gearing up for two September performances with my company, Robert Mark Dance, and just finished performing for Barretender Arielle with her company, Zella Dance. I also dance for an all-male company, 10 Hairy Legs. There seems to be a lot of dance in my life! But that’s not all I’m about! I love going on fun New York City excursions and exploring different museums! I also LOVE movie dates with my best friends! If you haven’t gone to see “Inside Out” what are you waiting for????

Was there an interesting path that led you to teaching at Barre?
I actually went to school with Arielle and Jessica and they told me about how much fun they had at Local Barre! I had to get in on action and have been hooked ever since!

What’s been essential to your success?
Never being afraid of feedback. It’s only way to get better at what you do!

Hard and fast rules you live by.
Work hard. Play hard. Repeat.

What’s on your “get amped” playlist?
Definitely, the entire Lady Gaga “Art Pop” album! It’s my go-to whenever I go for a run!

One tip for having the best Barre experience.
Don’t worry about the person next to you! Everyone takes their own journey to being fit, so just enjoy yours and work to your fullest potential!

You’re splurging...what’s your weakness?
Food, for sure! All kinds of food! It’s so dangerous!

High school: love or hate?
I guess it depends on what moment in time you’re talking about ;) I was the kid that did all the musicals, was Vice President of the Senior Class, and also took AP and Honors classes, which was great because I got to have a super tight knit group of friends, most of whom I am still friends with today! No getting pushed into lockers for me, but I definitely wasn’t at the top of the food chain!
