FAQ
What is your Class Arrival Policy?
First time guests are requested to arrive ten minutes before class so the Barretender can introduce themselves, welcome you to Local Barre®, and address any injuries, limitations, and questions. For safety reasons, beginners are strongly discouraged from joining a class once the Barretender has begun. For the safety and satisfaction of all Local Barre guests, late entry will not be permitted to anyone beyond the initial five minutes of any class.
What is your Class/Service Cancellation Policy?
All cancellations must be made at least 2 hours prior to the start time. An "early cancel" (outside of the 2-hour cancellation window) will not affect your account. If the cancellation is made within the 2-hour period before the class and/or service start time, it is considered a "late cancel". For all recovery services or mini barre there will be a charge of $10. For classes, if you are a class credit client, you will lose that visit and will receive a $10 charge.
Does Local Barre® have an app?
Yes! It is called Local Barre App and can find it in your App Store or use these links to download. Apple App Store or Google/Android App Store
What is the age requirement for Local Barre®?
All of our classes are safe for ages 16 and up! Clients under the age of 18 must have a parent sign the Local Barre® Minor Liability waiver.
Can I visit Local Barre® on backtoback days?
Yes, we encourage you to attend class on consecutive days. Regular attendance will help to build muscle memory and efficiency and alleviate muscle soreness. Because of the diversity of strength building exercises at Local Barre®, guests should expect to feel some tenderness after every class, particularly in the beginning or after a break. You might consider varying the type of class you take on consecutive days by supplementing the Open Barre℠ with other specialty classes.
How soon will I see results?
You will learn to engage your core with every exercise to feel a change after the first week, see a change after the first month, and achieve a noticeable Local Barre® body before next season. We encourage you to embrace the powerful relationship between your mind and body, and energy. Focus your energy on a fulfilling and meaningful life and good health and beauty will come to you.
Will I lose weight?
Local Barre® exercises target your largest muscle groups (i.e. legs and buttocks) – the larger the muscle, the more calories burned. You will build lean muscle mass which burns the most calories even while your body is at rest. As you see results, you will be motivated to make better decisions about your nutrition. If you participate in Local Barre® classes regularly and maintain a healthy lifestyle outside the Barre, then you will become slimmer. We challenge you to let go of the fixation with the scale and redirect your energy on total fitness, being strong inside and out. Perhaps more extraordinary than shedding pounds, you will love your body.
Will Barre classes make me bulky?
No! Local Barre® routines will trim your body. The series of exercises strengthen and stretch every major muscle group in the body, targeting hard to reach muscles to burn maximum calories and attain a more sculpted shape. You will notice a redistribution of your body weight as sagging muscles become firmer and more lifted. In the beginning, this might give you the false impression of fuller muscles. As you stick with it, your muscles will become more compact and you will shed the fatty tissue between the muscles to achieve a toned physique.
Can I still benefit from Local Barre® if I’m not flexible?
Yes! At Local Barre®, you will become more flexible. The Local Barre® method alternates strength and stretching to exhaust your muscles before they are stretched to lend themselves more easily to stretching. Concentration and breathing techniques allow muscles to relax. Flexibility and range of motion are important in preventing injury and keeping your body youthful.
What if I don’t have dance experience?
No problem! Our clients range from never having heard of pointe shoes to dancing their entire lives. For our beginners, you will notice some dance terms. We recommend watching your fellow Barregoers and of course, asking our talented Barretenders℠ as many questions as you need!
Will I need more cardio than Local Barre®?
It depends on your body and why cardio is important to you. Local Barre® classes are aerobic, fast paced, moving from strengthening to stretching exercises nonstop like interval training. Besides the obvious heart benefits, it is important to train our lungs. Controlled breathing strengthens the core and improves endurance which means the ability to exercise longer with less effort. We encourage guests to compliment their Open Barre℠ workouts with our HIIT the Barre class for additional cardio and to practice deeper breathing techniques.
What should I wear?
To ensure proper alignment, it is suggested that guests wear formfitting clothing. Grippy socks or in-studio shoes are required for all classes and may be purchased in the retail boutique. For HIIT the Barre and DANCE! Barre Cardio classes, sneakers are required.
Is Local Barre® for women only?
Of course not! We welcome Dames and Daddy O’s alike.
Is Local Barre® safe during pregnancy?
Yes! Local Barre® is an effective work out that is safe to continue throughout your pregnancy. At the beginning of each class please let the instructor know that you are expecting so they can show you any modifications that may be necessary. For more information regarding fitness and your pregnancy please contact us.
Can I come to BYOBaby® if I do not have a child?
